Thomas Named Thunder Coach

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder announced that Matt Thomas has been named head coach and that Chris Cichocki has been relieved of his coaching duties, effective immediately.

Thomas was head coach of the Fresno until Dec. 22 when the Falcons ceased operations while leading the Pacific Division with a record of 18-10-2. He is 179-98-41 in 318 career games with Fresno and Atlantic City.

The Thunder are the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League and the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League. Charlie Huddy, who coached in the ECHL in 1996-97, is an assistant coach with the Oilers.
