DULUTH, Ga. – The Gwinnett Gladiators announced that that the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League have reassigned All-Star center Brad Schell from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League to Gwinnett.
The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the Thrashers of the NHL and the Wolves of the AHL.
Selected in the sixth round (167th overall) by Atlanta in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Thrashers, the 22-year-old leads the ECHL with 74 assists and 95 points in 49 games. Schell scored two points (1g-1a) and had a plus-minus rating of +3 in two games with Chicago.
Schell is trying to become the first player to reach 100 points since 2002-03 when Buddy Smith of Arkansas led the league with 104 points and 74 assists and he needs 18 assists to tie the ECHL record of 93 assists set by Dan Gauthier of Knoxville in 1990-91.
