Tifu named Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. – Yannick Tifu of the Reading Royals is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for December.


Tifu scored eight goals, added eight assists and was a +7 during December, helping the Royals to a 10-0-1 record in the month.


The 28-year-old scored at least one point in 10 of his 11 games during the month, and tallied multiple points on five occassions. He registered three points (1g-2a) in a 5-3 win against Orlando on Dec. 15 and had a two-goal game, including the game-winner, in a 5-4 win over Trenton on Dec. 28. That was one of three game-winning goals in the month for Tifu.


A native of Brossard, Quebec, Tifu leads the Royals this season with 31 points (12g-19a) in 32 games. He has tallied 408 points (127g-281a) in 360 career regular-season games with Reading, Chicago, Elmira, Victoria, Florida, Dayton and Phoenix, and has added 35 points (14g-21a) in 45 Kelly Cup Playoff games. Tifu has also tallied 31 points (9g-22a) in 81 career American Hockey League games with Albany, Rochester and Binghamton.
