Making his first professional start on Wednesday, Trenton rookie Chris Houle made 19 saves in a 3-1 win over Toledo. The 21-year-old started again on Saturday and made 34 saves, including 14 in the third period, for his first professional shutout, a 2-0 win against Toledo. He closed out the week making 19 saves in a 2-1 win over Las Vegas which entered the game atop the ECHL with 21 points.
In his first three games as a professional, the 6-3 and 197-pound Houle is 3-0-0 and tied for the league lead in goals against average with 0.67. He is second in the league with a save percentage of .973 and tied for second with one shutout.
Houle earned Second-Team All-Rookie honors in the Ontario Hockey League in 2002-03 after going 22-14-3 with two shutouts, a 2.58 goals against average and a .917 save percentage while helping the London Knights advance to the Western Conference Semifinals.
