TRENTON, N.J. – The Trenton Titans announced that defenseman Rosario Ruggeri has been recalled to the American Hockey League by the Philadelphia Phantoms. Trenton is the ECHL affiliate of the Phantoms and the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League.
Selected in the fourth round (105th overall) by Philadelphia in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to Philadelphia of the NHL, the 20-year-old Ruggeri has five points (1g-4a) in 27 games with Trenton. It is the second call up of the season to Philadelphia for Ruggeri, who is scoreless in one game with the Phantoms.
The 6-1 and 214-pound rookie played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with Chicoutimi from 2001-04, finishing with 112 points (24g-88a) in 195 regular season games and six points (3g-3a) in 25 playoff games. He also played for Montreal in the QMJHL in 2000-01, registering eight penalty minutes in nine games.
