TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Storm announced that the team has exercised its option, extending the contract of head coach and director of player personnel Nick Vitucci through 2005-06.
In Vitucci’s first full season in 2004-05, the Storm was 41-26-5 and returned to the postseason for the 11th time in 14 seasons, earning Vitucci the ECHL Coach of the Year award. Vitucci, who played for Toledo from 1993-95, has won four ECHL titles as a player and one as an assistant coach.
“Nick has longevity and is a proven winner in the ECHL,” said Storm vice president and general manager Mike Miller. “He has been a member of five championship teams during his career and I am looking forward to 2005-06. Nick is also the second Toledo coach in the past three years to be named ECHL Coach of the Year.”
