PRINCETON, N.J. – Logan Koopmans of Toledo is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for November 15-21. Selected in the fifth round (166th overall) by Detroit in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 20-year-old Koopmans was 2-0-0 with a goals-against average of 0.47 and a save percentage of .980 in three games last week.
After playing 7:17 in relief on Friday, Koopmans started on Saturday and registered his first professional win and shutout, making 32 saves in a 1-0 win at Peoria. He returned between the pipes on Sunday and made 18 saves in a 4-1 win against Johnstown. A first period goal by Johnstown ended a shutout streak of 72:44, but Koopmans did not allow another score and currently has a scoreless streak of 58:30.
Under contract to Detroit of the NHL and in his first professional season, the 6-2 and 185-pound Koopmans is 2-1-1 with a goals-against average of 2.38, 14th in the league, and a save percentage of .921 in five games.
