PRINCETON, N.J. – Toledo center Carl Mallette is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for March 7-13.
The 23-year-old Mallette scored four goals and three assists and was +4 in his first three games with the Storm since being acquired in a March 8 trade with Greenville.
In his first game with Toledo on March 11, the native of Victoriaville, Quebec assisted on the first goal in the Storm’s 3-2 win against Peoria. He scored four goals and finished +3 in a 6-1 win against Peoria on Saturday, giving him his first career hat trick while tying his career-best for points in a game. He closed out the week having two assists and was +2 in a 4-3 win at Johnstown on Sunday.
Selected in the fourth round (107th overall) by Atlanta in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Mallette has 72 points (28g-44a) and is tied for first place in the ECHL scoring race with Alaska’s Scott Gomez (11g-61a). He began the season with Greenville, scoring 65 points (21g-41a) in 55 games while also representing the Grrrowl in the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game. Mallette, who has four penalty minutes in three games with Cincinnati of the American Hockey League, was named ECHL Player of the Month for November 2004 after scoring 16 points (8g-8a) in 12 games.
