Trenton’s Robinson Leads National
Conference To 6-2 All-Star Win

READING, Pa. – Two goals by Brent Robinson of Trenton led the National Conference to a 6-2 win over the American Conference in the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game played in front of a sold-out crowd of 6,747 on Wednesday at the Sovereign Center.

The combined eight goals were the fewest scored in the 13 years of the ECHL All-Star Game, eclipsing the mark of 10 goals set in 1993 and tied in 2003.

Idaho goaltender Frank Doyle was named Most Valuable Player of the Game after stopping 20 of 21 shots in the second period to pick up the win. Todd Ford of Pensacola took the loss, allowing four goals on 18 shots in the second. Reading goaltender Barry Brust made 11 saves in the third period for the National Conference.

Joey Tenute of South Carolina gave the American Conference a 1-0 lead at the first intermission, scoring a goal at 10:22, assisted by Mississippi teammates Nicolas Corbeil and Jeff Hutchins.

Brett Engelhardt gave the American Conference a 2-0 lead with a goal at 3:45 of the second period, assisted by Gwinnett teammate Jeff Campbell and Lou Dickenson of Texas. Ten seconds later, the National Conference made it 2-1 on Robinson’s first goal, assisted by Jon Francisco of Reading. Jean Desrochers of Johnstown tied the game with a goal at 7:19 of the second, assisted by Dana Lattery of Las Vegas. The National Conference took the lead at 10:48 of the second on a goal by Dayton’s Tyler Kolarik, who celebrated his 24th birthday on Wednesday, assisted by Andrew Canzanello of San Diego and Ryan Kinasewich of Reading. The National Conference led 4-2 heading into the second intermission on an unassisted goal by Derek Edwardson of Atlantic City.

Robinson gave the National Conference a 5-2 lead with his second goal of the night at 8:16 of the third, assisted by Connor James of Bakersfield and Dan Eberly of Toledo. Kinasewich closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal at 18:28 of the third, assisted by Kolarik and Reading goaltender Barry Brust.
