Veteran defenseman Montgomery signs with Gladiators

DULUTH, Ga. – The Atlanta Gladiators announced that defenseman Kevin Montgomery has agreed to terms with the team for the 2018-19 season.

 

The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

 

Montgomery, 30, brings 371 games of professional experience in the AHL, ECHL and various high-level European leagues. The Rochester, New York native has spent the majority of his career in the American Hockey League where he appeared in 192 games and produced 43 points (7g-36a) for Lake Erie, Oklahoma City and Springfield. A fourth-round selection (110th overall) of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Montgomery has one season of ECHL experience in 2015-16 when he notched 17 points (4g-13a) in 35 games for the Florida Everblades. Most recently, the 10-year veteran served as the alternate captain for the Rodovre Mighty Bulls in the top league in Denmark and posted 25 points (6g-19a) in 44 games.

 

He registered 96 points (12g-84a) over the course of three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League for the London Knights before turning pro in 2009-10. Montgomery represented the United States at the U20 World Junior Championships in 2007-08.
