Veteran Tristan King joins Solar Bears

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have agreed to terms with veteran forward Tristan King for the 2017-18 season.


The Solar Bears are the ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.


King enters his eighth season of professional hockey after recording 37 points (15g-22a) and 12 penalty minutes in 55 games split between the Allen Americans, Indy Fuel and Greenville Swamp Rabbits during the 2016-17 season.


In 320 career ECHL games with Idaho, Greenville, Ontario, San Francisco, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Allen and Indy, the 26-year-old has accumulated 225 points (90g-135a) and 167 penalty minutes. King also saw time in the American Hockey League during the 2010-11 campaign with the Texas Stars, and recorded four points (2g-2a) and six penalty minutes in 11 games.


Prior to turning pro, the native of Elk River, Minn. played four seasons of major junior hockey split between the Western Hockey League’s Portland Winter Hawks and Medicine Hat Tigers. King racked up 140 points (50g-90a) and 163 penalty minutes in 250 WHL games.
