Walby’s Overtime Goal Gives Mississippi 2-1 Win

BILOXI, Miss. (Ticker) – Steffon Walby scored in overtime to lift the Mississippi Sea Wolves past the ColumbiaInferno, 2-1, in the fifth game of the Southern ConferenceFinals. Walby netted his fifth postseason goal 4:31 into theextra stanza to cut Columbia’s deficit in the seven-game seriesto 3-2. Sergei Kuznetsov tied the score at 1-1 with just 64seconds remaining in regulation and assisted on the game-winner.Greg Gardner stopped three shots in the overtime and 34 overallfor his eighth win. Eric Labelle opened the scoring on thepower play midway through second period for Columbia, which hastwice failed to close out the series. After beginning the KellyCup Playoffs with an 8-0 mark, Patrick Couture recorded 27 savesin his second straight loss.
