Wannstrom assigned to K-Wings as Beach heads to Chicago

Kalamazoo, Mich. – The
Kalamazoo Wings announced that the St. Louis Blues have reassigned defenseman Sebastian Wannstrom to the club from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. In a related move, the Blues have reassigned defenseman Cody Beach from the K-Wings to Chicago.

Wannstrom started the season by earning an assist in seven games in the AHL with Chicago Wolves. The 2013-14 campaign is Wannstrom’s 2nd pro season in North America and his fifth overall. A second-round selection (44th overall) of the Blues in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Wannstrom began his pro career at the age of 18 with Brynas IF Gavle of the Swedish Elite League. During the 2011-12 season, Wannstrom helped Brynas capture the Swedish Elite League championship. Last year, Wannstrom made his North American debut splitting the season with the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen and the Evansville IceMen.

Beach has tallied two goals in five games with Kalamazoo this season. Selected in the fifth round (134rd overall) by St. Louis in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Beach also split his rookie season last year with Evansville and Peoria, recording nine points (2g-7a) in 24 games with the IceMen and notching seven points (2g-5a) in 23 games with the Rivermen.
