Wellar’s Halloween costume heads to Hockey Hall of Fame

West Valley City, Utah – The Skeleton Halloween Costume worn by Utah Grizzlies‘ defenseman Patrick Wellar on Friday, Oct. 31 has been requested by the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto and will be headed there for immediate display.

On Oct. 31, the Grizzlies teamed up with Coors and St. Jude Children’s Hospital to wear Halloween costumes that included the hockey jersey, shell and socks to form one skeleton costume. The costumes received worldwide attention through media and social networks.

The Wellar jersey was purchased by Grizzlies season ticket holders Dave and Deb Hersom to send to the Hall of Fame.

A veteran of over 600 professional games, Wellar is in his first season with the Grizzlies and has won four professional championships over the course of his career with three coming in the ECHL and one in the AHL. He is also the team’s player/assistant coach.
