Weselowski signs with Cyclones

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones have signed defenseman Riley Weselowski for the 2015-16 season. The 30-year-old has spent the past six seasons with the Rapid City Rush.

The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Nashville Predators and the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals.

A native of Pilot Mound, Manitoba, Weselowski appeared in 44 games for the Rush last season, tallying 10 points (3g-7a). Prior to the Rush’s move to the ECHL last year, Rapid City competed in the Central Hockey League, where Weselowski enjoyed five productive seasons on the Rush blueline, accounting for 124 points (22g-102a) in 274 games.

He helped the Rush to a CHL championship in 2010, and holds team records for games played (318), postseason games played (59), goals by a defenseman (25), assists by a defenseman (109) and points by a defenseman (134). His +75 on-ice rating is also tied for the all-time team high.

Weselowski also spent parts of two seasons (2008-10) with the Idaho Steelheads, where he accounted for 14 points (3g-11a) in 60 games.

A 2008 graduate of Bemidji State University, Weselowski skated four seasons with the Beavers where he potted 39 points (8g-31a) in 124 career games.
