Whittenburg Named “Voice Of The Jackals”

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira Jackals announced that they have named Grady Whittenburg as vice president of communications and director of broadcasting.

The 43 year old has been the director of broadcasting for Binghamton of the American Hockey League since 2002-03 and was also vice president of sales for the Senators the last two years. He worked 13 seasons as a broadcaster for Cornell University including as the play-by-play voice of the hockey team from 1999-2002.

Whittenburg will be the play-by-play voice for the Jackals radio broadcasts on Magic 92.7 and 97.7 as well as for the 12 games scheduled to be televised on WETM-18 beginning with the season opener on Oct. 19.

Playing their first season in the ECHL in 2007-08, the Jackals have averaged 3,308 per game over the last seven seasons with 31 sellouts, including a team record standing-room-only crowd of 4,126 on Oct. 13, 2006.
