Wilkes-Barre Scranton Assigns
Darling, Sheahan To Wheeling

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Nailers announced that goaltender Curtis Darling and rookie defenseman Brock Sheahan have been assigned to their roster from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

The Nailers are the ECHL affiliate of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL and the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League. The head coach of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is former ECHL player Dan Bylsma and the assistant coach is former ECHL player Todd Reirden.

The 24-year-old Sheahan has played the last four seasons at Notre Dame University where he had 33 points (4g-29a) in 161 games.

The 25-year-old Darling was 7-17-3 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 3.60 and a save percentage of .914 in 27 games for Wheeling in 2007-08. He was acquired by the Nailers in exchange for future considerations on Jan. 2 from Charlotte where he was 3-4-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 2.94 and a save percentage of .881 in eight games with the Checkers. He also played in the AHL stopping all four shots in one game with Syracuse.
