CHICAGO – The Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League announced that they have re-signed defenseman Brian Sipotz, who played in the ECHL as a rookie in 2004-05.
The Gwinnett Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the Wolves of the AHL and the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League.
Selected in the fourth round (100th overall) by Atlanta in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 25 year old played in two games for Gwinnett in 2004-05 while also playing in the AHL where he had eight points (2g-6a) and 31 penalty minutes in 75 regular season games and three points (1g-2a) and six penalty minutes in 18 playoff games for the Wolves.
The 6-foot-7 and 248-pound defenseman led the AHL and set a Wolves record with a plus-minus rating of +34 while scoring 12 points (2g-10a) in 73 regular season games in 2006-07. He also played in eight playoff games for Chicago and had a plus-minus rating of +1 and two penalty minutes.
