Las Vegas won all three of its games last week to run its unbeaten streak to eight games (7-0-1) and improve its overall record to 13-4-2 for 28 points and first-place tie with Stockton in the Pacific Division. The Wranglers own the league’s second-best winning percentage at .737.
The Wranglers opened last week with a 7-3 win at Ontario on Wednesday. Barry Goers led the way for Las Vegas with three points (1g-2a) while Tyler Mosienko added a pair of goals. Special teams keyed the victory for the Wranglers as they scored three times on six power-play chances while blanking the Reign on their five man-advantage opportunities. Las Vegas limited Ontario to just 15 shots on goal.
Las Vegas returned home on Friday for the first time since Nov. 13 and recorded a 4-1 win over Idaho. Mosienko tallied two goals and added an assist and Ryan Huddy scored once while chipping in with two assists. For the second straight game, the Wranglers held their opponent to 15 shots on goal.
The week ended for the Wranglers with a 6-3 win over Idaho on Saturday. Mosienko’s hot streak continued with another three-point game (1g-2a) while Goers (0g-2a), Huddy (1g-1a) and Jamie Bates (1g-1a) each contributed two points. Michael Ouzas improved to 9-1-1 on the season with 19 saves in goal.
Ouzas leads the ECHL with a 1.88 goals-against average, is tied for third with nine wins and is fourth with a .929 save percentage. The Wranglers possess a balanced offensive attack as no Las Vegas players rank in the top 57 in the league in scoring. Mosienko leads the way for the Wranglers with 17 points (6g-11a) while Huddy (9g-6a) and Ned Lukacevic (7g-8a) are tied for second on the squad with 15 points each.
The Wranglers head to Utah for games against the Grizzlies on Wednesday and Friday before returning home to face Idaho on Saturday and Sunday.
